Stamping India into Clay at The Cuba Library

A power point presentation with photos of India and some some stories about what I saw there when my husband Rick and I toured for a month. I wish that I could add the heat, the sounds, the smells, the sense of resourcefulness. The students used the stamps that I brought home from India and followed directions to make a cylinder stamped with images of India. These photos are of their work.

I was particularly impressed with their questions and the obvious thought behind them. Looking forward to session 2 tomorrow. - Elaine Hardman, StoneFlowerPottery of Wellsville

Cylinders made during the workshop on July 6.

Small plate to be made in workshop on July 13.

Close ups of cylinders made July 6.

Stamping India into Clay at Box of Books Library, Alfred

The Allegany Arts Association continued work with children through the annual Summer Arts Festival. These clay cylinders were made at the Alfred Box of Books Library on July 6. Students stamped impressions in clay with hand carved wooden stamps from India. They also viewed photo taken during that trip to India and tried to get some small understanding of a tiny part of India. The class was presented by Elaine Hardman, StoneFlowerPottery.com in Wellsville. Hardman toured India in 2007.
